Key Responsibilities & Daily Tasks
The Guest Experience

Hospitality: Greet guests with high energy, guide them to tables, and manage the “front-of-house” flow (menus, water, seating).

Service: Take orders accurately, deliver food and drinks quickly, and check in regularly to anticipate guest needs.

Financials: Handle the final steps of the meal by dropping off checks and processing payments.
Operations & Technical Support

Beverage Craft: Occasionally step behind the bar to craft espresso drinks and specialty coffees.

Kitchen Support: Assist with light prep work, such as slicing and stacking meats and cheeses or prepping ingredients.

Cleanliness: Maintain a pristine dining room by bussing tables promptly and keeping service areas fully stocked.
Qualifications & Requirements
Mandatory Experience & Certifications

Restaurant Experience: Minimum 1 year required (Server experience is a major plus).

Barista Experience: At least 1 month of coffee shop experience.

Certification: Must have a valid Food Handler Certification.
Physical & Professional Attributes

Reliability: Must have reliable transportation and a strong work ethic for the specific morning/lunch shifts.

Stamina: Ability to stand for the duration of the shift and lift 25+ lbs.

Appearance: Maintain a professional, respectful, and neat presentation.

Commute: Must be able to commute or relocate to the 99518 area of Anchorage.
Schedule & Compensation

Pay: $14.00 per hour + tips.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM (Wednesday starts early at 9:00 AM).

Sis’s Cafe & Catering is a locally owned, family-operated business located in Midtown Anchorage. Known for its “Good Service, Healthy Food, and Respectful Environment,” the establishment is led by an Executive Chef trained by the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). The team focuses on high-quality, handcrafted meals—ranging from gourmet paninis and organic salads to full-scale wedding catering. Working here offers a fast-paced but personal environment where teamwork and a “guest-first” mindset are the top priorities.
Typical Roles & Responsibilities:

Guest Experience: Greeting guests with high energy, guiding them to tables, and managing orders with accuracy and a focus on hospitality.

Food & Beverage Service: Delivering fresh meals and espresso drinks; describing menu items to guests, including daily specials and dietary-friendly options (vegan/gluten-conscious).

Catering Support: Assisting with the preparation, delivery, and setup of off-site events, including business luncheons, open houses, and weddings. This includes managing “Executive Box Lunches” and large-scale platters.

Operational Upkeep: Maintaining a clean Front of House (FOH), busing tables, and ensuring service areas are stocked. Light food prep (e.g., slicing meats/cheeses) is often required to support the kitchen.

Transaction Handling: Confidently managing Point of Sale (POS) systems, processing payments, and handling checks.
Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience in a serving or catering role is preferred, but motivated and energetic individuals are encouraged to apply.

Certifications: A valid Alaska Food Handler Card is required (typically within 30 days of hire).

Technical Skills: Ability to learn and memorize a diverse menu of sandwiches, wraps, and specialty salads. Basic espresso machine operation is a plus.
