Job Overview: Barista – Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge
Pursuit, a global attractions and hospitality company, is seeking a full-time Barista to join the team at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. This role is situated in one of Alaska’s most iconic gateway destinations, offering views of Denali and a community centered on adventure.
As a Barista here, you are more than a coffee maker; you are a host for travelers from around the world. You will balance technical beverage craft with high-level guest service, ensuring that every visitor’s morning starts with an “extraordinary” Alaskan experience.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Tasks
Beverage & Food Preparation

Exceptional Craft: Prepare high-quality coffee drinks, teas, and smoothies according to standard recipes and presentations.

Food Service: Prepare various food items and assist the wait staff as needed to ensure smooth dining operations.

Quality Control: Monitor food quality and maintain strict sanitary conditions throughout your shift.
Operational Excellence

Sanitation: Sanitize work areas before, during, and after shifts; ensure all espresso and kitchen equipment is kept pristine.

Prep Management: Follow and complete daily prep lists and prepare the necessary setup for the following shift.

Financial Integrity: Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain a professional guest service attitude.
Qualifications & Requirements
Core Experience

Industry Tenure: Prior barista experience is required.

Technical Knowledge: Must have up-to-date knowledge of proper food handling and health requirements.

Pursuit (operating as the Alaska Collection) is a major hospitality and adventure company that manages premier lodges and attractions across Alaska. In Wrangell—a gateway to the Stikine River and the Tongass National Forest—Pursuit roles focus on providing “unforgettable and invigoration” experiences for travelers. These positions are often seasonal (May–September) and are ideal for those who enjoy a blend of hospitality, guest service, and outdoor adventure.
Typical Roles & Responsibilities:

Guest Experience: Acting as the first point of contact for travelers, assisting with check-ins, arranging local excursions (like jet boat tours to LeConte Glacier), and providing insightful storytelling about Wrangell’s history.

Retail & Ticketing: Managing sales in gift shops, handling tour bookings, and ensuring guests have the proper gear and information for their Alaskan adventures.

Lodge & Hospitality: For those in facility-based roles, responsibilities include housekeeping, maintaining shared public spaces, and providing food and beverage support in a wilderness lodge setting.

Operations & Logistics: Assisting with the “provisioning” of the location, which involves unloading supply drops from the ferry or bush planes and managing inventory in a remote environment.
