Core Responsibilities

  • Environmental Cleaning: Clean and sanitize guest rooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and dorms; this includes light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, and mattresses.

  • Surface Maintenance: Execute dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and sweeping; wash windows, coverings, floors, and carpets to clinical standards.

  • Laundry Operations: Sort laundry by labels, load machines, and apply appropriate detergents/cleaning agents in accordance with WHMIS (SIMDUT) regulations.

  • Linen Management: Change bed sheets, replenish towels/linens, and manage the drying cycle for all facility textiles.

  • Equipment Safety: Maintain all cleaning materials in a safe manner and report any equipment requiring repair to the maintenance department.

  • Inventory Advocacy: Monitor supply levels and ensure the Manager is aware of department ordering needs.

  • Clinical Conduct: Wear appropriate PPE at all times and adhere to Sodexo’s strict health and safety regulations.

  • Client Relations: Maintain friendly, respectful contact with clients, upholding their rights to choice, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: One year of previous cleaning or laundry experience is preferred.

  • Physical Ability: Must have the agility and dexterity for long periods of walking, standing, and bending; ability to lift supplies weighing 50 pounds or more.

  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with WHMIS (SIMDUT) for handling cleaning agents is required.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional customer service skills, a high level of accuracy, and a cooperative, professional appearance.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and participate in staff training.
