The Bellperson at the Fairmont Palliser is a cornerstone of the guest experience, serving as the primary ambassador of the hotel’s legacy of excellence. Reporting to the Chief Concierge, this full-time role is responsible for orchestrating “the grandest experience” from the moment a guest arrives until they depart. You will manage the physical and informational needs of a diverse clientele, ensuring that every interaction—from handling heavy luggage to providing expert local advice—is executed with the precision and heartfelt hospitality that has defined the Palliser since 1914.

    • Estimated Pay: In the Calgary luxury market for 2026, Bellpersons typically earn between $17.50 and $21.00 per hour, plus significant guest gratuities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Luggage Management: Proactively assist guests with all luggage needs, ensuring seamless transitions for individual travelers and large tour groups.

  • Guest Arrival/Departure: Facilitate an efficient and welcoming check-in/out experience; support Doorpersons with valet services and vehicle handling.

  • Concierge Support: Act as a local expert, answering inquiries about Calgary’s attractions, hotel services, and Boulevard Level facilities.

  • Lobby Stewardship: Maintain the lobby’s appearance to ensure a warm, pristine, and welcoming environment at all times.

  • Operational Flexibility: Relieve the Night Bellperson as needed and communicate effectively across shifts to ensure task completion.

  • Safety & Security: Adhere strictly to Health & Safety protocols, including fire alarms, emergency responses, and secure handling of guest property.

Candidate Requirements

  • Licensing: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract are mandatory; must be able to drive standard transmission vehicles.

  • Physical Condition: Must be in excellent physical shape, capable of lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs repeatedly.

  • Experience: Previous Guest Services experience is preferred; knowledge of Calgary and hotel operations is a strong asset.

  • Education: Post-secondary education in hospitality is an asset.

  • Certification: Current First Aid and CPR certifications are preferred.

  • Disposition: A relentless desire to exceed guest expectations and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful workplace.
