JOEY Restaurant Group | Calgary, AB

JOEY Restaurant Group is an iconic Canadian premium casual dining brand that has grown from its Western Canadian roots into a major North American presence. While the current corporate headquarters is in Vancouver, the “JOEY” story began in Calgary in 1992. The group is widely recognized for pioneering the “lifestyle restaurant” concept, which combines award-winning architectural design, globally inspired culinary programs, and a high-energy social atmosphere. In Calgary, the group operates several key hubs including JOEY Chinook, JOEY Eau Claire, JOEY Barlow, and JOEY Crowfoot.

Company Culture

The culture at JOEY is famously performance-driven and centered on the concept of “Unleashing Potential.” It is frequently cited as one of the best workplaces in Canada due to its focus on professional coaching and internal promotion.

  • Coaching Culture: JOEY operates as a “teaching organization,” where every partner (employee) is encouraged to participate in ongoing mentorship and leadership training.

  • Genuine Warmth and Care: This is the core “credo” that guides interactions between staff and guests, emphasizing that hospitality should feel natural and unscripted.

  • Innovation & Agility: The group maintains a “fail-forward” mentality, encouraging chefs and managers to experiment with new menu items and service styles to stay ahead of industry trends.

Location: Calgary Hubs

JOEY’s Calgary locations are strategically chosen to anchor the city’s most high-traffic retail and business districts.

JOEY Chinook

  • Located at 6455 Macleod Trail SW, this is the group’s premier destination within Calgary’s largest shopping centre.

  • Known for its massive, year-round glass-enclosed patio, which provides a high-energy social scene regardless of Calgary’s winter weather.

  • It serves as a central meeting point for shoppers, professionals, and the city’s southside creative community.

JOEY Eau Claire

  • Situated at 208 Barclay Parade SW, this location overlooks the Bow River and Prince’s Island Park.

  • Its architecture leans into the urban-industrial aesthetic of the Eau Claire market area, featuring expansive windows and an outdoor terrace that is a summer staple for downtown office workers.

  • It is a primary hub for Calgary’s corporate lunch crowd and pre-event dining for nearby arts venues.

JOEY Barlow

  • Located at 3026 23rd Street NE, this site serves the busy Barlow Trail and Sunridge business corridor.

  • It is a strategic “commuter hub,” offering the same high-end experience as the downtown locations but with the accessibility required for business meetings and social gatherings in the city’s northeast.
