Job Overview: Nurturing Live-In Nanny (Downtown Manhattan)

A warm and hands-on family in Downtown Manhattan is seeking a high-energy, organized Live-In Nanny to support their two children (boy, age 5 and girl, age 3). This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys a “split-shift” schedule and values a collaborative relationship with involved parents.

The family is looking for a nanny who can seamlessly manage the morning and evening “rushes” while providing a private living space and full room and board. For candidates with specific language skills, this is a premier opportunity to utilize German or Mandarin in a professional setting.

  • Morning Routine: Manage the start of the day from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM, including breakfast and school preparation.

  • Afternoon Engagement: Handle school pickups starting at 2:30 PM, transporting children to various activities and playdates.

  • Evening Flow: Assist with dinner and the bath/bedtime routine, concluding the day around 7:30 PM.

Household Management

  • Child-Centric Upkeep: Responsible for the children’s laundry and general tidying of their spaces.

  • Organization: Assist with light household organization to keep the home running smoothly.

  • Travel: Ability to travel with the family (passport preferred).

  • Experience: Prior childcare experience with toddlers and school-aged children is required.

  • Demeanor: Must be nurturing, warm, and highly organized.

  • Health: Non-smoker.

  • References: Strong professional references are essential.

Salary, Schedule & Benefits

  • Employer: Care.com (Private Family)

  • Location: Downtown Manhattan, NY

  • Hourly Rate: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour (plus room and board).

  • Typical Weekly Hours: Approximately 35–45 hours per week (split shift).

  • Living Arrangements: Private bedroom provided with full room and board included.

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday (6:30–8:30 AM & 2:30–7:30 PM) plus occasional weekend hours.

  • Estimated Annual Value: Including the Manhattan housing and board, the total compensation package is valued well above the base salary.

Why This Role?

The split-shift schedule is perfect for a nanny who enjoys having their midday hours (8:30 AM to 2:30 PM) free for personal projects, exercise, or rest. Because the parents are “very involved,” you will have active partners in the children’s upbringing, reducing the pressure of sole-charge care. Living in Downtown Manhattan with all expenses covered allows for significant financial savings while being in one of the city’s most vibrant areas.

Application Information

Qualified candidates should apply via Care.com. In your application, highlight your experience with the 3–5 year age gap and explicitly mention your proficiency level in German or Mandarin if applicable.
