Job Overview: Newborn Care Specialist / Nanny (NYC)
A first-time mother in New York, NY, is seeking a supportive and experienced Newborn Nanny to assist with her infant son. This is a unique “phased” opportunity that begins as a flexible part-time role and transitions into a stable, full-time career position.
The role is currently designed to provide “an extra set of hands” while the mother is on maternity leave, allowing her to run errands or visit the gym. Starting in mid-May 2026, the position will shift to a standard full-time professional schedule.

Phase 1: Maternity Support (Now – Mid-May)
-
Flexible Assistance: Provide part-time support (half-days or 2–3 days per week) as negotiated with the parent.

Professional Nanny Care: Transition to a full-time schedule once the mother returns to her work-from-home position.
-
Developmental Support: Manage all feedings, nap schedules, and age-appropriate developmental activities for the infant.
-
Long-Term Growth: Act as a dedicated partner in the child’s first year of growth.

Experience: Required experience with newborns (0–6 months).
-
Education: Candidates who have attended college are preferred.
-
Certifications: CPR certification is strongly preferred.
-
Lifestyle: Must be a non-smoker.
-
Demeanor: Proactive, supportive, and comfortable with a parent working from home.

Why This Role?
This is an ideal position for someone who values a gradual transition into a new household. Starting part-time allows you to build a strong bond with the newborn and a rapport with the mother before the full-time return-to-work pressure begins in May. Because the mother works from home, this is a great fit for a nanny who enjoys a collaborative environment and open communication.
Application Information
Interested candidates should apply through Care.com. Be sure to highlight your specific experience with “first-time parents” and your availability to scale up to full-time hours in May.
