Unique Job Description
Specialized Caregiver | After-School Medical & Developmental Support
The Opportunity
Our family is looking for a dedicated and seasoned caregiver to provide after-school care and companionship for our wonderful son. He has CHARGE Syndrome, which means his daily routine requires an extra layer of expertise, patience, and medical awareness. We are looking for a “partner in care” who can meet him at the school bus and guide him through a safe, nurturing, and engaging evening routine.
This is a stable, salary-based position for a professional who thrives in a one-on-one environment and wants to make a genuine impact on a child’s quality of life. If you have a background in special education, nursing assistance, or high-needs childcare, we would love to connect with you.
Your Role & Impact
Your presence allows our son to transition smoothly from his school day into a relaxing evening at home. Your core responsibilities will include:
-
Medical Management: Carefully preparing and administering medications and handling specialized formula/snack preparation according to his specific health plan.
-
Daily Routine: Providing a warm welcome at the bus stop, followed by bathing, dressing, and assisting with his evening hygiene.
-
Meaningful Companionship: Beyond the physical care, you will be his playmate and companion. We value someone who can use creative play and—ideally—Sign Language to communicate and bond with him.
-
Safety & Stability: Maintaining a calm and predictable environment where he feels secure and supported.
Who You Are
-
Seasoned Caregiver: You have significant experience working with children who have complex medical or genetic conditions.
-
Technical & Detail-Oriented: You are confident in your ability to manage formula ratios and medication schedules accurately.
-
Communicative: You are a patient communicator. While not required, Sign Language skills are a major asset as they provide a vital bridge for his expression.
-
Reliable & Compassionate: You understand the importance of consistency for a child with CHARGE and are looking for a long-term Monday-Friday commitment.
Position Details
-
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 8:30 PM.
-
Compensation: Competitive salary pay based on experience.
-
Perks: Enjoy your weekends and all holidays off.
