Unique Job Description
Bilingual Mandarin Nanny | Early Childhood Language Immersion
The Opportunity
Are you a nurturing caregiver who is passionate about the power of early language development? Our warm, self-employed family in Calgary is looking for a dedicated Nanny to join us as our daughter approaches her second birthday. We believe that the toddler years are a magical time for learning, and we are specifically looking for a fluent Mandarin speaker to weave the language into her daily life.
This is a flexible role that can be tailored to a full-time or part-time schedule depending on the right candidate’s availability. Whether you prefer to live in or live out, you will be a vital part of our family’s “village,” helping our daughter grow in a bilingual, engaging, and supportive environment.
Your Role & Daily Impact
Your primary mission is to be a linguistic and developmental mentor for our toddler. You won’t just be “watching” her; you’ll be actively shaping her world through:
-
Mandarin Immersion: Creating a natural language-learning environment through constant conversation, traditional songs, and Chinese children’s literature.
-
Toddler Exploration: Planning and leading age-appropriate activities that spark her curiosity—from visits to local parks to creative play at home.
-
Attentive Care: Managing the essentials of a 2-year-old’s routine, including healthy meal prep and light housekeeping to keep her environment safe and organized.
-
Collaboration: Working closely with us (the parents) to align on developmental milestones and educational goals.
Who You Are
-
Fluent in Mandarin & English: You can seamlessly transition between languages and are excited to be a primary source of Mandarin for a young child.
-
Experienced & Safe: You have at least one year of professional childcare experience, a valid driver’s license, and a strong background in infant/toddler safety.
-
Nurturing & Reliable: You are a stable, kind presence who understands the patience required for the “terrible twos” and the “terrific threes.”
-
Self-Driven: As we are a self-employed household, we value a nanny who is proactive and comfortable managing the child’s schedule independently.
Position Details
-
Compensation: Competitive and negotiable based on experience and language fluency.
-
Schedule: Flexible (Approx. 25–30 hours/week).
-
Location: Calgary, AB (Live-in or Live-out).
